Biography
William Lilly (1602–1681) was an English astrologer who became the most influential figure in the history of English astrology. He is best known for his comprehensive textbook "Christian Astrology," which remains the definitive work on horary astrology to this day.
Lilly was born in Leicestershire and moved to London where he established himself as a professional astrologer during the turbulent period of the English Civil War. He became famous for his political predictions, including the prophecy of the Great Fire of London, which he published in 1652—fourteen years before the event.
Lilly brought astrology to the English-speaking world, codified horary technique, and predicted the Great Fire of London fourteen years in advance.
